Description

Marsanne is Rhône grape variety from France and is traditionally blended with Rousanne & Syrah to add more texture and aromatic flavors in the Rhône Valley. Marsanne is planted in our Stan Clarke estate vineyard, established in 2005 and named by our founder viticulturist; the vineyard contains all Bordeaux red varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Roussanne, and Marsanne. We are fortunate to have 100% Marsanne wine. Marsanne can be tough to grow in extremely hot or cold regions. Therefore canopy management is crucial to avoid unripened and flabby flavors.

Wine Profile

Food Pairing Notes:

This wine's smooth and creamy texture acquires more attention to main courses in which supple tannins effortlessly surround the lingering fruit flavors of peach salads, tropical, summery salads, creamy English or french soup, soft cheeses, mushroom or Bechamel sauces.

Production Notes:

The Marsanne grapes were destemmed and fermented in a Tank, transferred into a Chasin Bordeaux neutral barrel to enhance the buttery texture and integrate the moderate wood spices into this wine. A small percentage of Riesling was added, which helps to balance the acidity of this wine and more aromatic compounds.

Tasting Notes:

Marssanne was made into a dry-style wine. The creamy texture of this wine brings balanced by an earthy and stone "minerality" from the spoils, undertones of herbaceous Thai basil and green apple with a pleasant, pleasing finish of mandarin orange and Quincy.

Vintage Notes:

"The rest of the growing season continued to be warm, and 2021 is considered to be either the second warmest vintage on record behind 2015 or the warmest." Tropical and yellow fruits like peaches and cream dominate Marsanne's flavors. The canopy management for the vines was essential to avoid sunburn and keep the grapes developing slowly.
