Description

Student Winemakers: Katrina Logsdon, C.J. Augustine, Matt Moye Roussanne is an extraordinary grape variety from our Myles Anderson vineyards. Roussanne is a Rhône variety, initially in the Rhône wine region in France, where it is often blended with Marsanne. Myles Anderson was established in 2012. The vineyard contains Barbera, Marsanne, Roussanne, and Aligoté. A particular block of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier is cultivated for sparkling wine. This vineyard contains a garden of native plants to host beneficial insects.

Food Pairing Notes:

The Smoothness of this wine pairs with delicate and creamy sauces that add further depth to tropical salads, sourdough bread, and buttery fish that, creates a perfect elegance and balance with approachable softness

Production Notes:

The students decided to make this wine with a 100% grape varietal with an oxidative process, which is uncommon for white grape varieties but suited ideally for Roussanne because of the richness, richness, and oily characters with tons of tropical fruits in warm regions such as apricots, banana, yellow papaya, and peach yogurt. The Roussanne wine was fermented in French oak puncheon.

Tasting Notes:

The subtle notes of this wine and the acidity level surround a great structure with medium tannins that let this bottle age slightly longer than a regular white wine. This expressive wine has a tremendous tropical note of bananas, papaya, mango, lemon peel, and buttery notes with a silky-smooth finish.

Vintage Notes:

2020 was a relatively warm year for Walla Walla in Washington State. Roussanne is a late grape variety, but in 2020 vintage was picked early due to the smoke in Washington. The average crop was less with a great crop than average.
