Description
"Our estate vineyards are at the heart of the student learning experience. The Stan Clarke and Myles Anderson estate vineyards encompass 6 planted acres with 16 varieties. All vines are planted, maintained, and harvested by students who put the philosophy of “winegrowing” into practice. Our student viticulturists utilize precision agriculture tools to develop irrigation and nutrition plans which directly connect grape growing to quality wine making. Conventional, organic, and biodynamic practices are utilized to teach the full spectrum of management techniques. Our Myles Anderson estate vineyard was established in 2012. Named for our founding director, the vineyard contains Barbera, Marsanne, Roussanne, and Aligoté. A special block of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier is cultivated for sparkling wine. This vineyard contains a garden of native plants to host beneficial insects."

Wine Profile
Food Pairing Notes:
The softness of this wine pairs very well with white or red meat due to the soft tannins of this wine and the red fruity flavors of the Grenache grape, combined with the black peppery of the Syrah and ripe black fruits from the Mouvedre grape, that enhance the smoky flavours such as bacon rolled in a piece of chicken, some ribs in barbecue sauce or even some baked potatoes with saffron dusting
Production Notes:
Our Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre grapes, comes from our Cockburn Vineyards. Jon Cockburn Ranch Vineyard is located in the Southeast corner of the valley, in the foothills in the Blue Mountains. The wines were blended in a Puncheon Barrels of 500L which makes it about twice the size of a typical wine barrel. The ammount of surface allows the wine to have more contact with the oxygen. "The effects of micro-oxygenation are also realized more quickly in the barrique vs the puncheon, all for the same reason. The reason is that in smaller vs larger vessels, the volume of wine to surface area of wood contact is greater in the larger vessels than the smaller ones".
Tasting Notes:
We are proud to bring a high-quality wine from a different place with incredible stone and rocky soils in the Milton Free Water. This wine's earthiness and dustiness create explosive notes of intense blackberry notes and black fruit jams with deep, rich, fresh, and spicy black peppery notes. This wine is robust and plays a vivid role in the GSM blends.
Vintage Notes:
2018 led into a warm vintage for Washington, which was grateful and ideal for developing this blend of GSM. Reveal into a moderate temperature and create ideal conditions for ripening while cool nights balance the grapes' acidity. The result was a long, drawn-out season similar to the 2021 season. Conventional, organic, and biodynamic practices are Utilised to teach the full spectrum of management techniques for an excellent result for every vintage.
