Great with most pasta dishes

Production Notes:

A rich full mouth feel adds to the rounded complexity and long lingering finish finishing with the red fruit complexity Barbera’s naturally higher acidity. Try this food friendly Barbera with any grilled meats and tomato dishes!

Tasting Notes:

Chocolate covered cherries abound in this red fruit wine. Cranberry mixed with mincemeat show through this extractive full bodied “Old World Style Barbera”.

Vintage Notes:

100% produced from the Toy Vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley of Amador County, California. The best region in the world for growing Barbera of place and distinction and the Toy vineyard is one of the best vineyards here. Amador County and the Piedmont of Italy are both mountain appellations up against fast young and growing mountain ranges. Both the Alps and the Sierra Nevada are both huge granite monolithic uplifts due to continental drift. They both have decomposed granitic soils coming off the side of them. The difference is that the Piedmont of Italy is close to marine influence and it gets a lot of fog during the growing season. The best variety of the Piedmont is named after the fog and is called Nebbiolo. Nebbiolo makes the most expensive wines in the Piedmont while Barbera, being a sun loving variety, does not get the best vineyard sites in the Piedmont. But, when you take Barbera around the world to Amador County to a similar mountainous region with the difference being that Amador has no fog and ample sun, the Barbera variety explodes. We give our best vineyard sites to Barbera where it can reach its full potential to produce a wine that talks to you saying, “I’m Barbera, I’m Amador and I’m from this vintage”.
