Description
Savor a glass of history. Angelica is a sweet, tawny, fortified wine made from the Mission grape, which was brought to the New World by Spanish monks who planted it at the missions they established from the 17th century. It was (and still is, locally) used as Eucharistic wine. This Angelica is made from Mission vines planted in the late 1800s. The grapes were harvested in 2007 and the wine was barrel aged for 13 years. This dessert wine is a rich amber color and is complex, yet harmonious, with hints of caramel, fig and toasted walnuts.

Wine Profile
Production Notes:
The premier Angelica expert, Marco Cappelli, made this wine. The grapes were picked at 26 brix and the juice was fortified with neutral grape spirits, resulting in 19% residual sugar. The wine then was in barrels for 13 years to age an oxidize, resulting in the rich, dark color. Only 28 cases were produced.
